Dear Basic Training,
So, you’re the one he’s/she’s talked about,
the one he/she always has in mind?
well let me tell you something,
about this Soldier of mine.
I’ve loved him/her for a lifetime,
&will love him/her more each day,
we may fight & argue,
but our bond will never fade.
I’ve watched him/her laugh, I’ve heard him/her cry
I’ve seen him/her at his/her worst.
I’ve comforted him/her through sleepless nights,
I’ve tried to heal most hurts.
Though Army love means lonely nights,
We’ve called to show we care.
Through telephones & letters,
we’ve both done our equal share.
& here you come to put on hold
the relationship we’ve built,
through tearful eyes, we said goodbyes,
do you feel no guilt?
Well listen here, B-C-T,
I’ll only say this once.
I’ll play second to you, just for now
until you’re good & done.
So cherish this year while you can,
I’ll wait restlessly alone.
Fort Benning, Fort Jackson, Fort Sill, Fort Leonard Wood may be his/her current residence
but it’s in my arms is where he/she calls home.
I thought this was too cute! Come on guys, lets kick this separation in the butt! It has nothin on us! HOOAH!
